Jjail: Abandoned direction for the ending scene

Was working on what I assume is going to be the last bit of Jjail. This part got away from me and started heading in a direction that doesn't fit with the overall feel of the story -- it's sweeter and less humorous and supposes a deeper emotional connection between the guys than really works in this case -- so I chopped it. But since I like some of it quite a bit for its own sake, if not for Jjail, and since I tend to be a story-snip packrat... Well, that's why this journal exists. :)

The stuff that I'm keeping can be found here. This scene includes that bit and moves on a little ways.

( I grant that you'd be the authority on the etiquette of hiding behind a woman's skirts. )

standalone: Bootstrap Bill

  Been playing on and off with Bootstrap fics since I first encountered the fandom. Never have found the right one to go ahead with (though I have hopes for the whale one, and I do think I wanna write insane!Bootstrap-meets-Sadly-Jack someday). Here are a few I've spent a little time on.

( It's useless, beyond hopeless, with no way to kill them or trim their numbers and nowhere to go (but down); yet still I shoot with careful aim, as though it mattered, and when my pistols are spent I attack with cutlass and dagger, and when those are finally torn from my grasp I turn to hands and feet, elbows, knees, teeth... )

Moonverse: Groves and Norri

And finally, a lengthy scene with Groves. Originally I intended for him to be Norrington's 'experiment guy.' 'Penumbra' changed that, and therefore scrapped this. I won't say that nixes the possibility of Norri/Groves in this uni, but if it happens it won't much resemble this. Still, I had a lot of fun with parts of it. I rather adore the idea of Groves being an unremitting perv. Norri feels OOC in this to me, but what the hey? This is a scrapfile journal!

(  Groves had mentally debauched the man in ways Norrington might not even know were possible. )

Moonverse: smorgasbord of snips

  This post is a bit of an amalgam of Moonverse stuff. Some of it can be seen as happening off-panel. Some of it was written as first-draft stuff that was changed by the final draft but that I liked well enough to hang onto. I've raided parts for other stories, and while I hatehatehate being repetitive in 'finished' work, I don't mind so much revealing the repetitiveness that I'm prone to while trying to find the best way to showcase a concept.

None of this is more of the future-story, where Jack and James meet up again. Gonna try to refrain from posting any more of that 'til the story's being actively written.

Will vignette [standalone]

  Will vignette-ish...thing. Started it waaay long ago in response to reading one too many "Will is a pirate at heart and mopes by the sea" fics. The fanon pendulum has since swung away from pirate!Will, but back then I kept thinking, y'know, he learned something big and ouchy during that adventure. And the ocean's not really been his friend. He has another reason to mope by the sea.

It's not exactly WIP (for this "WIP Amnesty Day" [info]fabu mentioned), but I'm sick of looking at it, so. Here 'tis.

Disney's. No money. Don't sue.

F&F uni: another version of an F&F sequel

  Another F&F seq I was playing with. It's along a similar cheesy-but-fun vein to zombie!Norri -- y'know, Jack getting to ride in on a white horse to try to play hero for a direfully threatened Norri -- but minus the zombie part.

So many story-options! I think I have commitment issues.

Moonverse: alternate scene in Drowning

  In the latter Moonverse stories, with the POV switching between James and Jack from scene to scene, I had a lot of opportunity to write from both perspectives to decide which one suited what I needed from the scene best. Sometimes I hated losing a few of the insights or observations that had to be sacrificed when choosing one and abandoning the other.

Initially the second scene in Drowning -- greeting Groves and co. on the Pearl -- was written from Norrington's POV, with slight differences in the meet-and-greet scenario. I decided Norrington was thinking too bloody much, so switched over to Jack. Who then went and thought too much. There's just no winning sometimes.

Moonverse: Gibbs and Jack, post-Tides

  At the end of Tides, a rather unsettled Jack leaves the cabin, ostensibly to check on the doings of the crew. Never quite finished this scene, though every now and then I dust it off and stare at it and think, "Huh."

It's more of a Gibbs-scene than a Jack-scene. What's here cuts off a bit abruptly, but the meat's all there. And as is the case with most of my languishing snippets, I've plundered it for lines and concepts I've liked, which have appeared in other stories of mine.

( The crew of the Black Pearl had mostly settled into boozy slumber when the captain came out of his cabin somewhere 'round the mid of night. )

  Wanted a mood piece of Norrington following Jack's departure. Ultimately felt this had some interesting elements, but wasn't going anywhere. At least not fast enough to keep my flighty attention. ;)

BADASS uni: Sadly meets Pearl

  Follow-up to A Fine Pirate Ass, written looong ago. Well. Months ago, which in my lifetime in the fandom is a long while. I will get back to Sadly sometime (I will I will I will), but I don't expect to revisit this particular scene.

( I kept my eyes squeezed tight and held my breath, not wanting to see the world swinging by, not wanting to feel the (terribly thin) strap wrapped 'round my belly that hoisted me, jerkily, up and up and up. )

F&F uni: zombie!Norri

  One of several possible sequels to Fortune and Favor. This is affectionately known as zombie!Norri for reasons that should swiftly become obvious. I really like this one quite a bit, but I hit a bit of an impasse with it and have to think about a solution.

Length: somewhere around 4000 words.
